Dump the Pump! Leave Your Car at Home

April 10, 2008 – 7:01 pm

Downtown Savannah is known internationally for its connectivity, pedestrian scale and walkability. Dump the Pump encourages Savannahians to experience downtown as it was originally planned and intended by Gen. James Oglethorpe. Furthermore, alternative modes of transportation, such as bicycling, buses, walking, and carpooling, can reduce fuel consumption and traffic congestion while providing health, environmental, social and economic benefits to individuals and to the community.Friday, April 18th is a day for us to get around without our cars. Try public transportation. Bike to a friend’s house or to the store. Just walk to lunch instead of driving. Savannah is a pedestrian oriented city with beautiful weather this time of year. Take advantage of it!! DUMP the PUMP also kicks off Earth Day on April 19th and Bike Week April 18th-21st.
